Family Day: Dinosaur Park

We knew it would be a beautiful day today so we headed out early. Destination: Dinosaur Park in Rocky Hill

We took the roundabout way to Rock Hill. Took these pics in East Hampton. Opening Day captured with the Comstock Bridge (built in 1873...spanning the Salmon River) in the background.

Travels bought us through South Glastonbury where we found the road to the ferry flooded (at the end of this road is where you are supposed to catch the ferry). This flooding was from the nor'easter we had this past Monday (we had heavy wind and rain).

Note the car submerged...

We walked through the main building at the Dinosaur State Park http://www.dinosaurstatepark.org/ (in an out in 10 minutes!), saw some Dino tracks, fossils, a few reptiles, and bought a book and puzzle at the gift shop.

I packed a lunch in our picnic basket and we ate in the park.

After lunch we followed 2 trails over the swamp board...both led to flooded paths, so we ended our day at the Dino Park.

On the way home we went through Haddam and saw this lovely gazebo underwater.

Took a detour and went to Devil's Hopyard for a bit (see pictures from July 2006) and enjoyed the nice weather (made it to 80!). Stopped for ice cream in Salem (FFIFF's)...yummy!
