Aaaahhhh

Did some school shopping Monday- picked out some clothes for Jake from Ralph Lauren's Chaps line. Took him over to Wally world to pick out some toys with his own gift card- hey, have to teach them money management at some point! Up next is orientation tomorrow...

Work is just insane. No further comment except...I thought there was a plan?

Husbands sometimes...you have a discussion and then when asked a question they play dumb and make their wife look like an idiot.

Looking forward to heading to the Woodstock Fair this weekend...hopefully the weather is good.

Then there will be rest...

The next few weeks will be insanely crazy.

This past weekend was spent shopping for birthday and shower gifts (looking at all of the ink for my cousins baby was making my head hurt!! haha!). Saturday we could not decide on the 3 places we wanted to eat lunch, so we headed to "JR's Shack" in Waterford. I had breakfast (favorite meal of the day!) and the boys had lunch. It was very good. Sunday we did some grocery shopping; had energy to make "Fiesta Cabbage" (link below) for lunch and rhubarb (Jake called it boobar) cake for dessert. Yeah, the energy lasted a few hours and then I was sick.

This weekend: Friday we have a gathering for my "Supervisors" going away party at Michele's; Saturday is Jake's birthday party; Sunday is Lucas's party and Tracy's shower.

Next week: Jakob's birthday (8/29); Jakob doctor appointment (shots for school!) on Wednesday; parent orientation (Thursday); First Day of School (Friday); Woodstock Fair over the weekend; HOLIDAY.

Pictures of the day

Pictures were taken just outside of Cranston, RI (the gate was in Oneco, CT):

Sunflowers for a good cause

Having forgotten the camera when we went to Buttonwood Farm earlier in the week for ice cream, we took the opportunity to snap pictures of the field of sunflowers on the way home from Chuck E. Cheese today. We were a little disappointed as the sunflowers had wilted a bit during the week, but it was still an awesome site.

Each year the Button family grows over 300,000 sunflowers for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
(Flowers are cut and sold- all proceeds go to the foundation).

Where a kid can be a kid

We took Jakob to Chuck E. Cheese today. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be...I pictured a germ infestedplace with stick chairs and noisy kids all over the place. We went to the one in Warwick (I had been to the one in New London years back and wasn't impressed)...it was CLEAN...pizza was decent...kids were good...and Jakob had a blast! There were actaully quite a few adults (including Todd and myself) playing the games and trying to win tickets. For the amount of $ you spend buying the coins...the prizes are kind of cheesy when you redeem your tickets. Jakob loved the pipe maze and controlling the train....

It's a Boy!!

IT'S A BOY

The Ultrasound went wonderful today. The technician was so nice, showing me everything and explaining as she went along.

The baby was positioned in an arch with his head closer to my chest and his feet pointing downward. He kept kicking...and it was cool, because I could see it. He opened his mouth and stuck his tongue partially out. At one point, he had a leg and arm in the air. He moved his arm close to his mouth as if he was kissing it. Along comes a penis....and I didn't need her to tell me it was a boy! After about 30 minutes of checking the liver, kidneys, heart, ect. and taking measurements the technician said, "You should go to the bathroom...your bladder looks like it is ready to explode!". After returning, she took more pictures and measurements. We saw more of his face, he actually looks like Jakob in a weird kind of way (looking back at ultrasound pics of Jakob and a picture of him after he was born..you can see the resemblance). He quieted down some, not so much kicking. Closer to the end, his arms were covering his face as if he were going to settle down to sleep or he was playing shy. The technician commented on "how he is such a good boy, cooperating so she could get all of her pictures". The baby weighs 1 lb. 2 ozs.

After I decided to go have my blood work done (to detect any problems)- I was right there.

If things don't change, his name will be Kaleb (we don't have a middle name yet).

Baby's Hand and Foot

Week 22
Your baby measures about 7.6 inches and weighs about 12.3 ounces. The muscles are getting stronger every week now, and the eyelids and eyebrows are developed. Your baby's acrobatics are pretty constant, and since he responds to sound, rhythm and melody, you can try singing and talking to him. After he's born, the same sounds will soothe him.

Your uterus is continuing to grow, but you're probably feeling pretty good -- no more morning sickness, and your abdomen isn't so large that it's getting in the way very much. You may still be getting leg and foot cramps, as well as mild swelling of ankles and feet.

Tip for the Week:
To reduce cramping, increase your intake of calcium and potassium. Have a glass of milk before bedtime or snack on potassium-rich foods, such as grapefruits, oranges and bananas.

Fanilla with sprinkles please..

Yummy ice cream from Buttonwood Farm for dessert tonight! (The weather was much cooler today, high around 82 degrees- not humid at all). Jakob decides to hop off of the bench and then get back on...as he does, he falls backward and hits his head on the brick patio. I remained calm (well, yelling at Todd to hurry up and grab my cone!), but it is not a sound that I care to hear again soon. After a few minutes of crying and Todd agreeing to go home an alternate route, all was good.

Here are some pictures taken tonight- he decided to throw on his winter hat (that is too small!) and his new shoes for school:

Crazy.

Crazy week at work. Crazy hot weather and lots of thunderstorms.

Went to Michele's cook out today and had a good time..Jake had some kids to play with and enjoyed the kiddie pool. Stopped over to my folks to have some "Rhode Island Style" pizza that couldn't wait for home. Snapped a few pics of some flowers. Other pics are from this week.
