Happy Halloween

Well, Todd didn't make it home to go Trick or Treating, so my Mom and I took Jakob out. We went around our place and then headed over to my aunt and uncles where he helped hand out candy (he would answer the door and say "Heellooooo, Happy Halloween!" and drop candy in their buckets. He was so excited to do this! He even got a hug from a little boy. From there we headed over to look at the pumpkins on Norman road (post below) all lit up. They were so neat..all different kinds of carvings from witches to submarines! Last stop was "the condos" down the road. For not going to too many houses, his pumpkin was 3/4 of the way full and he was happy!

Mis Amigos

How quickly 18 months goes by....

Jorge and Edgar(t), our really good friends (family!) from Mexico will be going home within a week. It is sad, but we will all stay in touch. Jakob understands that MX is far away and is sad that they are leaving...but I know we will see them again! We celebrated by having a "gathering" at the K of C (not fried!). Here are a few shots of Jake (high on sugar, soda) with his buds.

Pumpkins! Pumpkins! Pumpkins!

Every year this house down the road is decorated in PUMPKINS! They are on display 10/21 - 10/31. We have yet to drive by at night to see if they are all lit up. I still want to get another picture. Jakob was amazed and wanted to see the "oval" one (?).

Friday Afternoon

We had some pretty weird weather...rain, wind picked up, then down pour! All stops then the sky was dark blue/black at one point and clear, bright blue in other spots.
Was able to snap a few pics before the camera died:

8 Years

Today is our 8th wedding anniversary! Some people find it hard to imagine that (1) a couple has been married for this long, (2) we have been together for 11 years, and (3) we have never broken up.

Stinks that he is away for work this week and we can't spend our special day together...although I joked that he didn't know what to get me, so he volunteered to go to Indiana for the week (haha!).

More Beauty

....from the aquarium

The "A" Quarium

We got our memebership to the aquarium today and made our first visit. Jakob kept wanting to go onto the next thing and was tired/crying after seeing the first part of the aquarium.

Jakob at the petting tank...he touched a star fish!

My Birthday Gift

Today I turn 30. No big deal. Big birthday celebrations are a thing of the past. Another day for me.

I walk outside this morning and am presented with this gift.

What a day

Got Jakob off to school (see his page) today.

Wish I could say my day was as good...I spent the morning at an unexpected visit to the doctor after feeling quite ill, dizzy, and having the sweats. My pulse was elevated, but everything checked out ok (blood pressure, baby's heart beat); Dr. Cooper seemed to think maybe I was a little dehydrated due to the little bug that went around our house this weekend (Jakob and I were sick...thought it was food we ate). I have to drink 4 liters of water today and had to had blood drawn as a precautionary. Still feel kind of icky.

A drive for a cool/rainy day

After a breakfast outing, travels brought us through Pomfret, Woodstock, Union, Eastford, Ashford, and Mansfield. Because of the on/off rain due to what is left of Hurricane Ernesto, we decided not to go to the fair today (think we may try tomorrow). Jakob and I both had a bout of something that made us run to the bathroom! Yikes!

We stopped by to pay our respects to Gramp; I also took the opportunity to take pictures (I love cemeteries).

Aaaahhhh

Did some school shopping Monday- picked out some clothes for Jake from Ralph Lauren's Chaps line. Took him over to Wally world to pick out some toys with his own gift card- hey, have to teach them money management at some point! Up next is orientation tomorrow...

Work is just insane. No further comment except...I thought there was a plan?

Husbands sometimes...you have a discussion and then when asked a question they play dumb and make their wife look like an idiot.

Looking forward to heading to the Woodstock Fair this weekend...hopefully the weather is good.

Then there will be rest...

The next few weeks will be insanely crazy.

This past weekend was spent shopping for birthday and shower gifts (looking at all of the ink for my cousins baby was making my head hurt!! haha!). Saturday we could not decide on the 3 places we wanted to eat lunch, so we headed to "JR's Shack" in Waterford. I had breakfast (favorite meal of the day!) and the boys had lunch. It was very good. Sunday we did some grocery shopping; had energy to make "Fiesta Cabbage" (link below) for lunch and rhubarb (Jake called it boobar) cake for dessert. Yeah, the energy lasted a few hours and then I was sick.

This weekend: Friday we have a gathering for my "Supervisors" going away party at Michele's; Saturday is Jake's birthday party; Sunday is Lucas's party and Tracy's shower.

Next week: Jakob's birthday (8/29); Jakob doctor appointment (shots for school!) on Wednesday; parent orientation (Thursday); First Day of School (Friday); Woodstock Fair over the weekend; HOLIDAY.
